BMS Desktop shows the main server's facility screen on a Windows computer without a browser, sets up an encrypted and verified connection even in a building with no internet, and is a free desktop application.

The window is BMS Desktop's, the screen is BMS Master's

The multi-building screen this application shows is not produced by BMS Desktop. The application that embeds the remote servers' graphics and collects the alarms in one place is BMS Master, on the main server. BMS Desktop carries that screen to a Windows computer: browser-free, secure and dedicated to one job. The two work together; neither is useful without the other.

A secure connection in a building with no internet

Most commercial buildings are cut off from the internet, and on such a network a browser cannot verify the server's certificate; it warns at every start. BMS Desktop and BMS Master recognise each other's certificate. The connection is encrypted and verified without ever reaching the internet. This is the reason the application exists.

A browser was not made for a control screen

Address bar, tabs, update prompts, a window closed by accident: a browser adds a layer the operator has no use for. BMS Desktop opens and the facility screen is simply there. Every start begins in the same place, with nothing around the screen to pull attention away.

The operator's computer is never left open

At shift change the screen stays on. After a period you set, the application switches to the screen saver and asks for a PIN on the way back. The same PIN guards the settings: without it the server address and password can be neither seen nor changed. The operator can also end the session directly.

Setup happens once

On first start you choose the interface language, enter the server's address and credentials once, and set a PIN. The application tests the connection and stores the server's identity. From then on only the PIN is asked. If the server details change you update them in the settings; no reinstall is needed.

The applications that produce the screen

The applications that bring a multi-building site onto one screen, embed the remote servers' graphics and collect the alarms centrally are BMS Master and BMS Slave. BMS Desktop does not produce that screen; it carries it.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without BMS Master?

No. The application looks for a licensed BMS Master on the server it connects to; without one it does not open the facility screen.

Is there a charge?

No. It installs free from the Microsoft Store and has no separate licence. The BMS Master licence on the main server is enough.

Does it do the same as a browser?

The screen is the same and control works the same. The difference is that the browser layer is gone and it connects without certificate warnings on a network with no internet.

On how many computers can it be installed?

The application sets no limit. Every installation must connect to a licensed main server.

The application does not work on its own; it connects to a Sona BMS automation server and to the BMS Master installed on it.
